L. D. (DOW) HEATER -- L. D. (Dow) HEATER, died at his home on Bens Run, on Thursday of last week. He was in his 80th year. Married in 1875 to Emma J. Cox who died in 1888, leaving six small children, all of whom are living. They are: Frank Heater of Burnsville, Scott Heater of Gilmer, Charlie Heater of Sand Fork, Lee, Flavius and Mrs. Earl Jeffries, all of Clarksburg.
Married again in 1892 to Sarah J. Wymer, who survives with their ten children: Ann(Mrs. Pumphrey) of Orlando, Bird, Mrs. Hefner of Bens Run, Daisy (Mrs. Blake) of Clover Fork, Donie (Mrs. Taylor) of Chapman, Goldie (Mrs.) Arrington of Huntington, Marie Heater, who is at home, James Heater of Huntingon, Coleman, George and Orie Heater at home.
Interment in Pumphrey Cemetery. (Ind. Wed. 30 May 1923)

There is some confusion about him. It appears (see the following note) that his name originally was Salathiel and was changed at some time to Lorenzo Dow. Lorenzo Dow was an intinerate preacher .. nearly every family in Central WV has a son named Lorenzo Dow.

1850 Lewis Co census -- Salathiel, 6 yrs old living with William and Mary; 1860 Braxton Co census -- Salathiel 13 yrs old living with William and Mary; 1870 Braxton Co census - no Salathiel or Lorenzo Dow 1870 Gilmer Co census - no Salathiel or Lorenzo Dow 1870 Lewis Co census - no Salathiel or Lorenzo Dow. In 1875 Lorenzo Dow married Emily Jane Cox in Gilmer Co. In 1892 Lorenzo Dow married Sarah Wimer in Lewis Co, gave parents as William Heater and Polly Heater. His marriage record gives his age as 39 (which would make him born in 1853).
